“Working with Agustín was an absolute pleasure! He wrote to the euphonium’s capabilities with the skill of a composer far beyond his years. His “Miniature No. 1” has a fun and idiomatic flow on the instrument and the harmonies are almost Hindemithian in their twisting and shifting. His piece balances a level of difficulty where the melodies are a suitable challenge for collegiate players, but perfecting the nuance is a task one could work at for a long time. I can’t wait to see what’s next for his compositional output; he has a lot to offer in the euphonium world in the future!”
